Download the compressed image file ‘controller-firmware.7z’
Extract the image file using WinRAR (https://www.win-rar.com/start.html?&L=0) or 7-Zip (https://www.7-zip.org/)
Download and install the program 'balenaEtcher' (https://www.balena.io/etcher/)
Insert an SD card and run balenaEtcher as an admin on your PC (SD card size must be >= 16 GB)
If any pop ups open during opeining this program, close them.
On the balenaEtcher window, select 'Flash from file' and choose the extracted image file
Click 'Select target' and select the SD card
Click 'Flash!'. This will put the image file on the SD card.
Insert the SD card to controller while controller is turned off
Turn on the controller. A popup should appear indicating that ‘Firmware SD card is detected’.
Follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade firmware.
Once complete the Controller will power down.
Connect the entire system. Reboot the controller and confirm the firmware has been applied under Menu>Settings>Software Upgrades
Once confirmed, select Check for updates. If any updates are available for the connected ROV and accessories, you will be prompted to update by following the onscreen instructions.
If the popup ‘Firmware SD card detected’ doesn’t come up when starting the controller with the SD card inserted, it is possible that the SD card has a problem. In this case simply try another SD card (preferably a different kind of card).
